Lynchburg Board of Realtors

The Lynchburg Board of Realtors, also known as the Lynchburg Association of REALTORS® (LAR), has been a pillar of the real estate community since 1913. With over 700 real estate professionals as members, LAR is committed to promoting public awareness of the REALTOR® profession and providing value to its members in the City of Lynchburg and the surrounding counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell.

LAR’s mission is to be the voice for real estate in the region, promoting the value of its members to the public through consumer outreach. The association works hard to equip its members with a thorough knowledge of association services and technology, offering educational opportunities and researching new technology to stay on top of industry trends.

As a member of LAR, real estate professionals enjoy a wide array of benefits, including free continuing education classes, access to the local MLS, subscriptions to MLS tools, discounts on online continuing education, and opportunities to participate in committees and social events. The individual’s license must be hanging with a firm that’s already a member of LAR, or the firm and principal broker need to join before any other REALTORS® can join. New members are required to fill out an application, provide a copy of their license, and pay applicable fees and dues.

Secondary Membership

Secondary Membership is a great option for REALTORS® who are working at a firm in Virginia and are already members of another association but want the benefits of being a full member in LAR. REALTORS® must hold primary membership and be a member in good standing of a Virginia-based association of REALTORS®. They’ll need to fill out an application, submit a letter of good standing from their primary association, and pay applicable fees and dues.

MLS Only Membership

MLS Only Membership is ideal for REALTORS® who are working at a firm in Virginia, who are already members of another association, but want to access the LAR MLS and LAR’s Supra Lockboxes. The individual’s license must be hanging with a firm that’s already a member of LAR, or the firm and principal broker need to join before any other REALTORS® can join. The REALTOR® must be a member in good standing with another Virginia-based association of REALTORS®, fill out an MLS only application, submit a letter of good standing from their primary Virginia association, and pay applicable fees.

New Firms Joining LAR

For a new firm to join LAR, there’s a New Firm Initiation Fee. The principal broker must join the association in the capacity in which the firm would like its membership and pay all applicable fees. Keep in mind that a new member may never join the association at a higher membership level than that held by the firm and the principal broker.
